Jeffrey Alumbaugh is an American artist best known for the hundreds of band backdrops and outdoor music festival banners painted for clients all around the world. Being an independent painter for over 30 years has been a thrilling part of a life-long direction that is still provocative and intriguing today.

Drawing on a regular basis as a young child proved to be the art foundation his future would be built upon. Drawing band logos and painting banners to hold up in the crowd at concerts during the middle school and high school years proved to be the initial building block in the band backdrop and outdoor music festival banner journey.

Soon after graduating from high school with multiple art credits, Jeffrey eagerly attended old-school hands-on graphic art courses at Platt College and Rocky Mountain College of Art and Design, scoring perfect marks throughout the curriculums.

In 1987 and before the internet, Jeffrey painted his first stage backdrop for a local band in Denver and the passion began. Growing up on and the love for classic and eighties rock fit perfectly with the art opportunity of having backdrops on local rock club music stages. Painting, designing logos and working with the bands was a great experience that would inevitably return years later.

Chasing a dream, Jeffrey relocated to Las Vegas, Nevada in 1993 to step further into becoming a professional artist in the entertainment industry. The fire really started burning for large scale paintings when he was hired by Donrey Outdoor Advertising to paint entertainment billboards while proudly and honorably learning under the wing of one of the greatest billboard artist in the United States.

In 1996, and now back in Denver loaded with a greater amount of large graphic paint experience, Jeffrey stepped out of the entertainment scene and started the Fastway Sign Studio where he was routinely commissioned to paint large graphics for national corporations, local projects and the U.S. Government, including the Air Force Falcons and the United States Postal Service.

In 2006, and missing the entertainment industry, his love for music and the desire to share his artwork with the world led to rapidly closing the sign studio. Rock City Backdrops was born and the focus was for higher artwork exposure in a tighter crowd consisting of live music fans in the rock and roll world. The word spread among bands and a large client list began to develop with hundreds of backdrops completed. Over the next few years his paintings appeared on national television shows including...

VH1-Behind the Music
TruTV-Full Throttle Saloon
The Academy of Country Music
ACM Sessions
The Big Interview with Dan Rather
Rock and Roll Road Trip with Sammy Hagar
AXS TV

In 2019, Jeffrey took the next step on his path and took Rock City Backdrops out of the scene and public eye in order for him to paint exclusively for high profile bands under his personal name as an independent artist. While doing so, Jeffrey also explored art projects off the backdrop path and gained additional content for his book titled The Art of the Path; A Reality Trip For Spellbound Creatives. Written as a reflection of the journey he diligently created and followed, the purpose of the book is a unification of experience, advice, thoughts, art and lifestyle to be shared with the intentions of hopefully making a difference in the lives of the readers and their creative journeys. The book is expected to be completed in 2026.

2022 was the year of reflecting back to the humble beginning of backdrops and returning back to it. Now that the entire spectrum of painting band backdrops has been experienced , Jeffrey knows that now is the perfect time to focus on the ultimate VIP clientele, the bands rocking the corner clubs in the neighborhoods.
